Lana Manis

Lana was born, raised, and continues to live on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee. It's a beautiful, rural area where she and her family enjoy their home,  4 dogs, and a neverending menagerie of wildlife in the yard and woods: birds, rabbits, chipmunks, deer, squirrels, opossum, skunks, snakes, coyotes, wild  hogs, bears, and elk!

As a child, Lana enjoyed playing in the woods, swimming in the river, reading of faraway lands and wondrous adventures, and creating all sorts of whimsical art. Her parents, both creatives and nature lovers, encouraged and taught Lana to make do with what they had and to use her imagination... and it never left her! She has always enjoyed working with her hands, using recycled items whenever possible. Nature and history have always inspired Lana in her work.

Some of Lana’s favorite materials are old books and papers, tarnished tinsel, glass glitter, crepe paper, orphaned bits of antique and vintage jewelry, and lovely little snippets of old textiles.

Her work has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens Make It Yourself 2012, FOLK, Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Crafts 2011, Romantic Homes, GreenCraft (a Stampington publication), Early American Life (several issues), Create and Decorate (several issues), Victoria, Arts & Crafts, and several online home decor and wedding blogs, as well as a paper crafts book.

"I don’t destroy perfectly good books as a rule, and use antique and vintage books that are falling apart, have pages missing, or are damaged in one way or another."
